Job Summary

Osceola Science Charter School is seeking a dependable, energetic, and student-focused Support Staff – Physical Education team member to assist Physical Education teachers in providing a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment for students.

The Physical Education Support Staff members assist with instructional activities, supervise students, help maintain equipment and facilities, and supports school-wide health and wellness initiatives. This position requires strong communication skills, the ability to work effectively with children, and a commitment to promoting student safety, fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Instructional Support

Assist Physical Education teachers with the implementation of daily lessons and activities.

Work with individual students and small groups under the direction of the Physical Education teacher.

Reinforce teacher-directed instruction and learning objectives.

Assist in organizing students for fitness activities, drills, games, and athletic skill development.

Encourage participation, teamwork, and positive sportsmanship.

Provide additional support to students who require assistance during physical activities.

Student Supervision & Safety

Supervise students during physical education classes, recess, fitness activities, and special events.

Assist in maintaining a safe environment during indoor and outdoor activities.

Monitor student behavior and report concern to the Physical Education teacher or administrators.

Ensure students follow established safety procedures and school expectations.

Assist with emergency procedures and safety protocols when necessary.

Provide basic first aid assistance in accordance with school policies and training.

Equipment & Facility Support

Set up, distribute, organize, collect, and properly store physical education equipment.

Inspect equipment and report damaged or unsafe items.

Maintain inventory records for physical education supplies and equipment.

Assist with preparation of gymnasiums, athletic fields, courts, and activity areas.

Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of physical education storage areas and equipment rooms.

Administrative Support

Assist with attendance records and related documentation.

Prepare materials and equipment for instructional activities.

Support the planning and coordination of field days, fitness assessments, tournaments, and school events.

Assist with distributing information, forms, and communications to students and families.

Maintain accurate and timely records related to assigned responsibilities.

School & Community Support

Promote positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members.

Support school initiatives related to health, wellness, and physical fitness.

Assist with extracurricular activities, athletic programs, and after-school events as assigned.

Serve as a positive role model through professionalism, teamwork, and appropriate conduct.

Professional Responsibilities

Follow all school policies, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Participate in required training, meetings, and professional development activities.

Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and school operations.

Stay current with technology and software applications utilized by the school.

Maintain timely and accurate information related to job responsibilities.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal, or Physical Education teacher.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.

Associate degree or related experience preferred but not required.

Experience working with school-age children preferred.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, students, and parents.

Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.

Demonstrated dependability, punctuality, and positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of basic first aid and student safety procedures.

Previous experience supporting physical education, athletics, recreation, childcare, or related programs.

Experience supervising students in structured and recreational environments.

As the first point of contact for the school, the Secretary/Administrative Assistant plays a vital role in creating a positive experience for families and visitors while ensuring efficient office operations. This position requires exceptional communication, multitasking, organizational, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced educational environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Front Office & Administrative Support

Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, students, visitors, and callers.

Greet and assist visitors, parents, and students with professionalism and courtesy.

Answer, screen, route, and document incoming phone calls and messages.

Provide information and direct inquiries to appropriate school personnel.

Perform general clerical duties including scheduling, copying, filing, faxing, scanning, and mail distribution.

Prepare correspondence, reports, agendas, meeting minutes, bulletins, and other administrative documents.

Support teachers and administrators with clerical and administrative tasks.

Maintain confidentiality of student and employee records.

Administer basic first aid and prescribed medications in accordance with school policies.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.

Data Entry & Records Management

Enter, maintain, and update information in school databases and record systems.

Maintain accurate student, attendance, enrollment, and administrative records.

Create, organize, and manage both electronic and paper filing systems.

Collect and compile data from various sources to ensure compliance with administrative and legal requirements.

Assist with student enrollment and withdrawal processes.

Maintain records, calendars, rosters, informational packets, and supply order documentation.

Attendance Clerk Responsibilities

Serve as the school's attendance clerk.

Maintain daily attendance records and attendance databases.

Collect attendance information from teachers and parents.

Track student absences, tardiness, and truancy records.

Verify information provided on doctor and parent notes.

Communicate attendance concerns and reports to administrators and parents.

Issue passes for tardy students and early dismissals.

Assist families in resolving attendance-related concerns.

Meetings & Event Coordination

Schedule appointments, conferences, meetings, and special events.

Coordinate meeting logistics, materials, and catering arrangements when necessary.

Prepare agendas, event materials, invitations, and meeting documentation.

Attend meetings and accurately record meeting minutes.

Maintain scheduling and event calendars.

Office Equipment & Inventory Management

Operate and maintain office equipment including printers, copiers, fax machines, and phone systems.

Monitor office equipment functionality and coordinate repairs as needed.

Maintain office supply inventories and place orders when necessary.

Ensure workspaces and equipment remain organized and functional.

Learn and utilize new office technologies and software applications.

Required Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field preferred.

Minimum of four (4) years of administrative support, secretarial, or related experience.

Experience working in an educational or school setting is preferred.
